Leadership Team
Susanne Ungerer is the Chief Executive Officer and Co-founder of Random Bit, LLC. She and her husband, Gerhard, started Random Bit because they wanted to create and grow a business built around the values of integrity, responsibility and excellence. Susanne has worked for over 20 years in the government health and human Services field. She has worked as a business analyst, systems analyst, testing team lead, and systems training manager in the areas of Child Support enforcement system projects and social security disability. Susanne holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
Gerhard Ungerer is the Chief Technology Officer and co-founder of Random Bit LLC. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and Applied Mathematics from the University of Stellenbosch (South Africa). He holds PMP, ITIL Practitioner, Six Sigma Black Belt, NoSQL developer, and Object-Oriented Design certifications. Gerhard has worked in the software field for over 25 years including defense, insurance, finance, health, engineering, and human services. His various positions include: Chief Information Officer, Enterprise Architect, Director of IT Processes and Quality Assurance, Project Manager and an IT Consultant. Gerhard currently serves as Chief Architect with various clients on large-scale Medicaid Enterprise System projects.
David Ulmer is the Chief Information Officer for Random Bit LLC. David has held senior and executive management positions in the public and private sectors, with emphasis in information technology management, security, and enterprise transformation. Most recently, he served as CIO and Deputy Director for South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, but he has experience in transportation, financial services, and manufacturing/distribution. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from Furman University, Greenville, SC, and Master of Business Administration from Goizueta School of Business at Emory University in Atlanta, GA, where he focused on operations management. David also is a Green Belt in Lean/Six Sigma.
Pat O’Cain is the Chief Operating Officer for Random Bit LLC. Pat joined Random Bit in the spring of 2022. Prior to that he held senior and executive management positions in the public sector for the State of South Carolina and private sector in the insurance industry. He spent over 35 years in South Carolina State Government Information Technology, notably serving as Senior Assistant Comptroller General with the Office of Comptroller General and Deputy CIO for Enterprise Projects with the Budget and Control Board. Most recently Pat was the Director of ICT PMO at BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of South Carolina School of Business – Management Science.
Lori Morrow is the Chief Administrative Officer of Random Bit. Lori’s responsibilities with Random Bit include recruiting, new employee onboarding, proposal development, policy writing, and other administrative and employee-related projects. Lori joined Random Bit after 11 years as a corporate paralegal. Her background also includes human resources and corporate recruiting and training. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and a Paralegal Certificate.
